# Kirin Ca 1 — chip and variant profiles

Checked 2026-10-01. Source IDs refer to `kirin-ca1-source-register.md`. “Unknown” means withheld, not zero or absent. Years below are device-era labels; exact launch dates require a launch source before a timeline graphic is published. At-test OS is unknown unless tied to an inspected original test. No chips have been physically tested by FlawCheck.

## Main profiles

### Kirin 9000 — included

- Identity/device: Huawei Mate 40 Pro; manufacturer specifications explicitly name Kirin 9000 [S01]. Huawei launch release dated 2020-10-22 identifies Mate 40 Pro/Pro+ [S02].
- Selected configuration/market: Thai/global NOH-NX9, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage [S01]. Do not generalize this to China, 4G reissues or P50 Pro variants.
- CPU: eight physical cores, 1× Cortex-A77 3.13GHz + 3× A77 2.54GHz + 4× A55 2.05GHz [S01]. Logical-thread count is not separately specified on that page; do not infer SMT from later Kirin generations.
- GPU/NPU: Mali-G78 with 24 GPU cores; two large NPU cores plus a tiny core [S01]. GPU cores are not CPU cores.
- Process: Huawei calls it 5nm [S02]. Foundry and exact process variant require separate primary fabrication evidence before inclusion in the public table.
- Modem/network: S01 lists 5G NR bands for NOH-NX9; modem part number and integration details remain unverified here.
- Memory: device capacity confirmed. Controller-supported RAM types, maximum bandwidth and storage protocol remain withheld.
- OS: EMUI 11 based on Android 10 on S01; EMUI 11 at the global launch [S02]. At-test OS/build: pending Ca 2.
- Upgrade question: separate aging battery/storage/software problems from measured silicon limits. No performance verdict yet.

### Kirin 9000S — included

- Identity/device: Mate 60 Pro; TechInsights physically identifies Kirin 9000s/SMIC N+2 [S03].
- Era/market: Mate 60 generation, China, 2023. Exact launch-day source and test model code/configuration remain to be captured.
- CPU/GPU: original Geekerwan analysis located [S04]. Eight physical cores/twelve threads and Maleoon 910 are discovery hypotheses awaiting inspection of the original analysis frames in this brief; do not publish them as manufacturer-confirmed fields.
- Process: SMIC 7nm N+2 supported by physical teardown [S03].
- Modem: exact part number/integration unverified. Do not use “Mate 60 series supports 5G” as a substitute for modem identification.
- Memory: reviewer configuration, RAM technology and UFS version pending; do not import database maximums.
- OS: official old Mate 60 Pro specs URL redirects to the phone index [F02]. Launch OS and at-test build therefore remain unverified in this profile. Updated Huawei support compatibility records do not establish launch firmware.
- Upgrade question: test CPU, graphics and sustained efficiency independently against 9000, rather than assuming newer means uniformly faster.

### Kirin 9010 — included

- Identity/device: TechInsights confirms Kirin 9010 in Pura 70 Ultra [S05]. An original Notebookcheck test corroborates chip identification [S06].
- Selected measured device: Huawei Germany review sample, 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, reported UFS 3.1 [S06]. Pura 70 Pro is separately identified by a firsthand comparison reviewer [S07]; it is not substituted for Ultra.
- Era/market: Pura 70 generation, 2024; global review sample separate from China devices. Exact launch date not yet locked.
- CPU/GPU: original review lists **8c/12t**, Maleoon 910 [S06]. Detailed core names/clocks are held for original Geekerwan architecture review [S08]; do not label the CPU “12-core.”
- Process: TechInsights confirms SMIC 7nm [S05]. Its public 9020 process summary also describes 9010 alongside N+2 comparisons [S09]; finer dimensions require full report access.
- Network/modem: the original global sample review reports no 5G reception [S06]. Modem identity and China capability are separate unresolved fields.
- Memory: selected device capacity/storage observed; maximum supported controller bandwidth not verified.
- OS at inspected test: EMUI 14.2, Android 12 base as reported by the reviewer, May 2024 security patch [S06]. China HarmonyOS 4.2 support context exists [S10]; this is not a measurement build or proof of launch firmware.
- Upgrade question: compare task improvements with 9000S under matching tests and consider app/platform changes separately.

### Kirin 9020 — included

- Identity/device: TechInsights identifies Kirin 9020 extracted from Mate 70 Pro+ [S09]. Huawei currently names it in China Mate 80 base model [S11].
- Era/market: Mate 70-generation test leads and Mate 80 China configuration. Do not infer an exact debut date from a currently updated page.
- Confirmed Mate 80 configuration: 12GB/16GB RAM, 256GB/512GB storage, HarmonyOS 6.0 [S11]. A different model/configuration requires a separate row.
- CPU/GPU: physical-core count, logical threads, clocks and Maleoon generation pending inspection of original structural/device evidence. Kurnal original report entry located [S12], but PDF not yet inspected. No database number is admitted here.
- Process: TechInsights public summary identifies SMIC 7nm N+2 [S09]; full report inaccessible in this run.
- Modem/memory-controller: exact identities/protocols pending. Mate 80 connectivity features do not prove all are implemented within the SoC.
- OS context: Huawei Mate 70 Pro specs show HarmonyOS 4.3, with a NEXT edition shipping HarmonyOS 5.0 and upgrade eligibility [S13]. This describes Mate 70 Pro software options; do not assign it automatically to the Mate 70 Pro+ teardown sample. At-test build pending.
- Upgrade question: establish whether CPU/gaming improvements persist, and whether device cooling or OS explains a difference.

### Kirin 9030 — included

- Identity/device: Huawei China Mate 80 Pro **12GB RAM** [S14].
- Configuration: 12GB RAM; product family lists 256GB/512GB/1TB storage, but not every RAM/storage combination is proven by the page. Verify exact SKU before collecting results.
- Era/market: Mate 80 generation, China. Exact launch date pending a direct launch record.
- CPU/GPU: reported eight physical cores/twelve threads and Maleoon 935 differences are held pending inspection of original Geekerwan analysis [S16]. Official product page names the chip but does not provide that architecture.
- Process: TechInsights' current Pro analysis discusses its earlier “Kirin 9030” work from Mate 80 Pro Max [S17]. Manufacturer identifies that device with 9030 Pro. Preserve this naming difference; do not assert standard-9030 die identity/process equivalence without a separately identified sample.
- Modem/memory: exact modem and controller-supported memory fields pending; phone RAM is confirmed separately.
- OS: HarmonyOS 6.0 on the China product page [S14]; measured build pending.
- Upgrade question: compare complete configurations with 9030 Pro; do not attribute extra RAM's multitasking benefit solely to silicon.

### Kirin 9030 Pro — included

- Identity/device: Huawei China Mate 80 Pro **16GB RAM**, and Mate 80 Pro Max [S14, S15].
- Confirmed Pro Max configuration: 16GB RAM, 512GB/1TB storage, HarmonyOS 6.0 [S15]. Its larger chassis/display/battery make it a different thermal platform from Mate 80 Pro.
- Era/market: Mate 80 generation, China; exact launch record still required for timeline date.
- CPU/GPU: reported nine physical cores/fourteen threads and Maleoon 935 are held pending original video/frame review [S16]. Never call fourteen threads fourteen physical cores.
- Process: direct TechInsights Pro process-flow analysis, dated 2026-08-27, identifies SMIC N+3 [S17]. Do not relabel as confirmed 5nm/6nm.
- Memory/modem: device capacities confirmed; chip maximum RAM/type/bandwidth and modem identity pending.
- Global separation: Huawei global Mate 80 Pro page lists **EMUI 15 and 16GB/512GB**, but does not name the processor [S18]. Do not infer its SoC solely from the China RAM rule. Require reviewer/device identification for global test data.
- OS at test: pending for Geekerwan and other tests. Published video date does not establish test date or firmware.
- Upgrade question: quantify differences by task and sustained behavior, then weigh price, app ecosystem and regional support.

## Variant decisions

| Variant | Mapping/evidence recovered | Decision | Unresolved fields |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9000E | Huawei tablet specs directly identify 8-core A77/A55 layout and Mali-G78 MP22 [S19]. Mate 40 phone mapping is a launch-source lead [L01]. | Include silicon-spec distinction; phone mapping withheld until direct launch/device source inspected. | Phone SKU, launch OS, modem and test conditions. Tablet behavior cannot stand for phone thermals. |
| 9000L | Xiaobai authored post captures Mate 40E Pro older official specifications: 6 CPU cores, Mali-G78 22-core; author obtained benchmark database entries rather than performing the cited test [L02]. | Keep as identification watchlist; do not publish benchmark percentages or foundry speculation from this post. | Direct official mapping, exact SKU/OS, independent original measured test. |
| 9000SL | Firsthand comparison reviewer identifies ordinary nova 12 Ultra [S07]; separate original review located [S20]. | Include naming caution; no detailed public architecture row yet. | Variant/edition-specific model code, physical cores/threads, modem, memory, test firmware. |
| 9000S1 | Firsthand reviewer identifies standard Pura 70 [S07]; obsolete official Malaysian page redirects [F03]. | Keep in naming box with source label; exclude numerical generation analysis until primary profile/test verified. | Official/physical identity corroboration, full configuration, cores/threads, GPU, memory and firmware. |
| 9010E | Reports identify Pura 70 Beidou messaging edition, but retrieved Huawei community material is user content, not an official spec sheet [L03]. | Quarantine; not an accepted device mapping or spec table row. | Original device identification/teardown and exact market/SKU. |
| 9020A | Huawei Mate 70 Air 16GB explicitly uses 9020A [S21]. | Include manufacturer-confirmed SKU caution. | CPU/GPU architecture, modem, RAM technology and measurement build. |
| 9020B | Huawei Mate 70 Air 12GB explicitly uses 9020B [S21]. | Add alongside A because it affects buying decisions. | Same architecture/measurement gaps; do not treat it as ordinary 9020. |

Mate 70 Air official software field is HarmonyOS 5.1; the same page says upgrades to 6+ and some factory batches ship 6+. Store that as batch-dependent software context [S21], not a single universal test OS.

## Required keys for every accepted Ca 2 test

`chip_name`, `physical_cores`, `logical_threads`, `device_name`, `model_code`, `market`, `ram_gb`, `storage_gb`, `os`, `os_build`, `test_date`, `source_url`, `source_timestamp`, `benchmark_version`, `api`, `workload`, `mode`, `duration`, `ambient_c`, `cooling`, `power_boundary`.

Unknown spec fields must remain null/unknown. An individual test can be accepted without every silicon specification being known, provided chip/device identity and relevant test conditions are sufficiently established.
